Having your tyres fitted at home means a technician drives to your driveway, car park or roadside with everything needed to remove, fit and balance new tyres on the spot. You don’t book a garage slot, drive on a worn tyre, or sit in a waiting room. Most jobs take under an hour.

How tyre fitting at home works, step by step
- You tell us the car and the problem. Give us your registration and, if you can, the tyre size printed on the sidewall (for example 205/55 R16). We confirm the tyre, the price and the arrival time before we set off.
- The technician checks the spot. They need firm, reasonably level ground and about a metre of space around the car. Driveways and car parks are ideal. Public roads are fine if the work can be done safely.
- The car is lifted and the old tyre comes off. We use a proper jack and stands, and alloy-safe tools so your rims aren’t marked.
- The new tyre is fitted and the wheel balanced. An unbalanced wheel causes steering vibration and uneven wear, so every new tyre is balanced before it goes back on.
- Final checks. Tyre pressure is set to the manufacturer’s figure and wheel nuts are torqued correctly. You pay on the day by card.
Fitting two tyres usually takes 40 to 60 minutes. A single emergency replacement is often quicker.

One honest limit: we don’t do wheel alignment or tracking. That needs a level ramp and laser equipment, so a garage is the right place for it. If your car pulls to one side after new tyres, book a garage alignment check.
Is it more expensive?
Often not. Once you count fuel, parking and the time you’d spend at a garage, the total is usually close to or lower than a garage visit. We quote a price for the job before we arrive, with no membership fee and no hidden call-out charge.
How to prepare in five minutes
- Find your locking wheel nut key. Check the glovebox, the boot floor near the spare, or the toolkit. If it’s lost or the nut is damaged, we offer a locking wheel nut removal service that won’t mark your alloys. Just tell us when you call.
- Check your tyre size. It’s on the sidewall. Registration lookups are usually right, but the sidewall is certain.
- Park on firm, level ground with room to open the doors and work around the car.
- Keep children and pets indoors while we work, as we use compressed air and lifting gear.
Why fit tyres promptly: the legal side
The legal minimum tread depth for car tyres in the UK is 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tyre. Driving on an illegal tyre can lead to a fine of up to £2,500 and three penalty points, per tyre. A quick way to check: if the tread doesn’t cover the outer band of a 20p coin’s rim when you place it in the groove, get it checked. Tyres with bulges, cuts or a slow puncture should be replaced regardless of tread depth.

Do I need to be there while the tyres are fitted?
Only at the start, to hand over the keys and the locking wheel nut key. After that you can go back inside. We’ll tell you when the job is done.
Can you fit tyres on a public road?
Yes, if there’s enough space to work safely without blocking traffic. We need about a metre clear around the car.
Are the tyres the same quality as a garage's?
Yes. We fit budget, mid-range and premium brands that meet UK safety standards, using the same type of fitting and balancing equipment a workshop uses.
How long does it take?
Around 40 to 60 minutes for two tyres. It varies with the vehicle and the location.
What if I can't find my locking wheel nut key?
